worth the effort.
I am by no means an experienced seamstress, but was determined to make a 1930s style dress. I would class my self as a beginner, but one that keeps trying and happy to research sewing methods that most people know already! This dress looks fabulous, and has so many variations it is everything you need for a 1930s weekend. I made the flutter sleeve midi dress for day time and evening wear in different fabrics. The full length gown is perfect for dancing around the ballroom. The video of bodice making from the pattern makers really does need viewing before attempting, but the pattern is pretty straightforward. I had never lined a garment before and never put a placket in - I wasn't happy with the latter so removed it and as it is cut on the bias managed to pull the dress on without a side fastening. The bodice was mastered after watching the video. I had seen a video of hemming a dress using bias binding which I tried, and also tried hand rolling the sleeve hems which was an option in the pattern. My attempts look great and fit well, if you are reasonably experienced it will be fantastic. I am happy anyway, and have had compliments wearing the dress. Well worth the effort.
