THE DENHAM • Pattern
By Merchant & Mills, The Denham is a paper sewing pattern.
Garment Details: Inspired by a vintage Austrian hiking jacket. This neat mid-season piece is perfect for all weathers. A double breasted jacket that can be lined or unlined. It features two flap pockets and a button tab to close the collar.
Sizing: This is a multi-size paper pattern including sizes 6-18 or 18-28. Denham is more closely fitting than a lot of our other patterns, do carefully check the finished measurements table, and if in doubt size up.
Sizing, finished garment measurements and fabric requirements can be found in the chart located in images.
Fabric Suggestions: Dry oilskin, oilskin, canvas, cotton twill, 8-12oz denim, linen, corduroy, wool. A heavier weight cloth will result in a more structured jacket.
For linings we'd suggest our barrier lining if using an oilskin, otherwise - cotton voile, lightweight linen, cotton poplin, lightweight wool and slip linings.
Trims required: Matching thread, 6 x 2cm / 3/4" buttons*. Optional (recommended for most fabric): 0.9m/1yd interfacing. If making an unlined jacket you will need 0.4m / 1/2yd of lining for the pocket bags.
*Option - 3 smaller buttons can be used on the tab and lapel, in which case you will need: 13 x 2cm / 3/4" and 3 x 1.5cm / 1/2" buttons.
Skill Level: Suitable for an Intermediate.
All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless stated otherwise and are included in the pattern.
